Entering spring with "Art in Bloom Exhibit" https://joycerommphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2019/3/entering-spring-with-art-in-bloom-exhibit "Art in Bloom" is just that.  The North Carolina Museum of Art in Raleigh has this exhibit the third week in March and I was fortunate to be there this year.  Florists from NC make incredible arrangements of flowers to represent their expression of a piece of art.  The arrangements are works of art!  It is a great way to start the Spring.  Here are some of my favorites.

2015 https://joycerommphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2015/1/2015 It was the only way to enter a NEW YEAR!  After gray and cold days up north we spent a week on the St. John Virgin Island.  This was paradise - perfect weather, landscapes and great company (I was with my husband Dan).  It has a coral reef around the island making it great for snorkling and I saw a sting ray fish come up to the beach where a pelican was hanging out.  It was a very relaxing time and the island had a quality of "Don't Worry just Be Happy."  YES - not a care in the world.

One of the highlights was taking a Sunset Cruise and experiencing the beauty of the sun going down and the stars and lights going on in the darkness of the night.  I loved the sail boat with the US flag up above.   The shopping in the city of San Cruz with their free standing booths allowed us to get some gifts to take home.

To sum up the end of 2014 we hiked to the end of the island up on the mountain's ledge.  It was a windy place, but what a view!!

There is so much more to do, but we will return soon (I hope).  Great time with wonderful memories!

Collections https://joycerommphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/3/collections It is fascinating how people have their likes, dislikes and LOVES!  Some people LOVE to collect certain things.  It is interesting to try and understand how

they gravitate towards these collectibles.  The reknown Glass Artist Chihully has some of his collections in the cafe of his museum in Seattle, WA.  Not only are

his "accordians" suspended from the ceiling, but his 1950's clock radios line the walls.  Under each table is a recessed part with miniature metal toys or other

things he collected.  I realized that Mr. Chihully needs a museum to house, not only his works of art, but some of his collectibles.  It is a must see if you are in Seattle.

Dreaming of Flowers https://joycerommphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/2/dreaming-of-flowers          Family of Orchids

It is far from being green, yet the snow is gone for now.  Today I found myself remembering the pictures I have taken of roses, orchids and geraniums.  The lasting impressions of these flowers help me get through the last month of winter.

An occasional day like today - blue sky, mild breeze and temperatures slightly over  60 makes it possible to believe spring is in the air.

It will all be gone before we know it https://joycerommphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/2/it-will-all-be-gone-before-we-know-it SNOW.  It can be a beautiful thing to behold.  It can be a nuisance!  But it is what it is.  I love the four seasons.  Winter can get more criticism than the other seasons because it is COLD and MESSY, ICY, and makes you yearn for GREEN  ANYTHING!!  We have a couple of days this week of temperatures in the 50's and 60's.  Yesterday small green shoots were coming up and I thought "Mother Nature does love to play games with us."

I try to find the beauty and hope others do too!

Getting through February https://joycerommphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/2/getting-through-february  It is It is often said that February is the shortest month of the year, but feels like the longest.  Last year I put a spring wreath on my front door the beginning of March, even with snow flurries during the month.  During the winter it is beautiful when the snow comes, but when brisk winds and frigid temperatures accompany it UGH!!  As much as I want to take pictures it is TOO COLD!  Almost Snow CoveredOutside WV home after a snow storm Snowed Lion, Beckley, WVSnowed Lion, Beckley, WV Icicles Against the Sky

The Angelic Rose https://joycerommphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/the-angelic-rose

A poem I have written about the Angelic Rose sits beside it in a frame with two 5x7 cut outs.  This is my creation called a PicPoem.

What keeps me SANE - Frankie and Chessy https://joycerommphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/what-keeps-me-sane---frankie-and-chessy When I am ready to pull my hair out or have been stuck in front of the computer for too long, my cats, Frankie and Chessy, will come over

and start walking in front of the computer screen pushing pens and papers on the ground or make it impossible for me to write by leaning on

my pen or pencil.  They have been cooped up inside due to the frigid temperatures.  Sometimes I just grab my camera and start taking pictures of

them, even though they prefer treats and some stroking.  I also must give credit to my husband, Dan, too.  He comes home and off goes the

computer and work can wait.  I am blessed!

It made me smile. https://joycerommphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/it-made-me-smile Today I was uploading a video and found myself breaking into a smile.  "This is what it is all about" I thought.

"Making yourself smile might mean someone else will find this funny, cute and maybe a bit off the wall.  That's

what I want...to make people smile."

Panda Patrol https://joycerommphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/panda-on-patrol-at-national-zoo I love to capture the Panda on patrol at the National Zoo!  Must be something to do with their black and white face and body.  Whenever I have the opportunity to see them in action I attempt to video them.  They make me smile and feel special just by being near them.

The pick of the litter: STORE SIGN https://joycerommphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2014/1/the-pick-of-the-litter This photograph was accepted as a submission to a Gallery today.  Of all the possible entries for "Every Day Objects Gallery" this was

not one I would have picked.  When I studied it closer I wondered "Was the older design what caught the art gallery manager's eye?" or

"Maybe this is a piece of art, even though I named it STORE SIGN?"  Slowly I enjoyed looking at it over and over again.  They just don't

make signs like this these days; HMMMMM maybe there is more to this than I thought.  Design or Art??  I choose both because one goes

hand in hand with the other when it comes to public signs, billboards and the like.  It must have caught my eye too...I took the picture.

MY WEBSITE - Really? https://joycerommphotography.zenfolio.com/blog/2013/9/i-have-a-website-for-my-photographs-finally It has been difficult for me to take my role as a photographer seriously.  As I named this website "One person's view of the world"

my pictures were and will always be my creations.  I believe one must be able to find their passion(s).  It is necessary for me to have

a balance in my life between the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects in living a healthy existence.  There is also the more logical

part of me that needs to be in a balance with my creative energy.  Photography and the arts in general - music, painting, crocheting

or knitting have always been outlets for me for my creative side.  I have made jewelry using very thin gold yarn that is still with my

jewelry, but being alone and crocheting was too sedentary.  My style is more active.  I will carry a smaller SONY Cybershot with me

wherever I go and be ready should I find something that is visually interesting to me.  Imagine I can take these images home and

revisit a place, a person or even a common thing - like a fire hydrant.  Will a picture of a fire hydrant make it to this website?

My mission is to present my visual creations to you.  Something may catch your eye in a way that it had caught mine.  My website

is a part of me and may become a part of you too.  Most of all I hope you can just sit back and enjoy!
